The pleasures of cooking and eating, sitting at the table with family and friends, shopping at farmers markets has always felt unrelated to social or political activism, disconnected from the larger world of global famine and climate change. Lately, though, I've become aware of the larger implications of my habits on my local communities, New York City and the Berkshires. I use new criteria for making choices. I'm on a journey of learning and awareness that I never could have foreseen when I baked my first banana bread thirty eight years ago. This blog is an attempt to record that journey through food and community, large and small, local and global.
Looks as if they were sugar coated!
